For 27 days we’ve been talking about hope and while reasons to hope have been indirectly mentioned, I thought it would be good to see how the Bible answers the question:
In no particular order, here are some things I found:
- When we find our hope in God, we won’t find ourselves disappointed.
Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in me will not be disappointed.”
- Hope takes away shame and reminds us of God’s great love.
Romans 5:1-5Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
- Hope brings security… a sense of stability in an ever-changing world.
Job 11:18 You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
- We hope because in God we find unfailing love and REDEMPTION!
Psalm 130:7 Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
And why not wrap it up with my confirmation verse:
- We are renewed when we find hope in the Lord.
Isaiah 40:31 Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
