A Hymn…
When morning gilds the sky,
My heart awaking cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
A new song…
Turn down the music
Turn down the noise
Turn up Your voice, oh God
And let us hear the sound…
Words that comfort…
You are blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.
Words that challenge…
I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God created selves. … In a word, what I’m saying is Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.
Be especially careful when you are trying to be good so that you don’t make a performance out of it. It might be good theater, but the God who made you won’t be applauding.
Words that lead to identity…
You are blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.
Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
You are hear to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.
Words of direction and grace…
Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light.
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever things come up when the time comes.
Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.
In my life…
MAY JESUS CHRIST BE PRAISED.
