Dinner with a Perfect Stranger

I recently read the book “Dinner with a Perfect Stranger” by David Gregory.  This may have been a quick read (aka a short book) but it was packed full of stuff that really made you think. Concise but completely worth it. This would be a good book for anyone who maybe has grown up around the church but doesn’t necessarily know Jesus. I think it would also be a great encouragement to anyone at any point in their life (including me).

Anytime someone tries to create a “Jesus” figure in a fiction book they take a risk. When thinking of a general overview of the book, I think Gregory did a good job of staying pretty true to the Jesus we see in the Word (of course slightly different due to it being in modern times). If Jesus were walking around on earth in human form today, I think he might interact with people the way he did in this story.

One of the best aspects of this book for me was they way it shattered a lot of the common sterotypes of God as it pointed to the Jesus who just loves us where we are and wants to know him in order to have true life!

(I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.)
