Bekah's Heart, First Trinity, Mission Work

Something Big

On my way to the grocery store after work last night I found myself wondering, “Did that just happen?!?”

24 hours before, the idea of leading a team to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy was just that… an idea.  By the end of the day, we had a date and place set, host churches lined up for lodging, registration up on the First Trinity website, and people already signed up to go.

I couldn’t help but think of a John Waller song called Something Big that had been a favorite of mine a few years before while in college.  (Yes, much of my life does revolve around music.) Anyway, here are a few lyrics from the chorus:

“Those who love you wanna do
Something so big it’s destined to fail with You…
Something so great it takes a miracle to do
We, Your Children, wanna do something big for You.

I’m pretty sure that planning a whole mission trip in just over a week meets the above qualifications.  This is crazy, my teammates have reminded me of that, but I can’t deny God’s presence and leading in it and am so thankful to be in a place so attentive and responsive to God’s call.  I’m not sure what the next week will hold, but I know God’s got stuff planned that is going to blow my mind.

I wanna be a part of something great
Greater than me

“It’s time to dream big dreams
To see Your vision
Become reality…

Something bigger, something greater
For the glory of Your splendor
Something bigger, something greater
Tell the story of Your wondrous love
Your wondrous love

As long as we live, let us do something so big for You”
