“Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.” (Proverbs 16:32 NIV)
“… But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:22-25 NASB)
Once words are spoken, they can’t be taken back. Once actions are completed, they can’t be undone. What we say and do in haste can often hurt and damage ourselves and others. Pray that college students you know would have the self-control to think before they speak, act, text, or tweet. God’s spirit gives us patience and self-control. Pray that they would see and use their gifts from God today and every day. Ask God to help them live by the Spirit and be guided by the Spirit rather than worldly desires. Ask God to remind them of the power that lives inside them when self-control and patience are difficult.
