“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should
walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10 ESV)“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.’” (1 Samuel 16:7 ESV)
We live in a world that constantly tries to tell us we’re not “enough”. We’re not smart enough, good enough, thin enough, big enough, quick enough, bold enough… on and on. These lies are around us in so many different ways; it becomes difficult to remember what our real identity is. Our self-worth and value suddenly become slave to whatever “they” says is “enough” (whoever “they” even are).
The truth of the matter is that God has created each of us unique and whole just the way we are. He has handcrafted us as His masterpiece to do the things, great and small, that He set out for us since before the creation of the world. Pray today that through their young adult years, college students would grow to have a strong sense of their God-given identity that is unique from anyone else in the world. Ask God to show them what that identity looks like and give them confidence in living it out to His glory each day. Pray that they would find their self-worth and wholeness in Christ alone.
