Bekah's Heart

Just Be

When my friend Megan and I were looking for a place to vacation this fall, our desires were pretty simple: affordable, near a beach, preferably 2 bedrooms, with a place we could cook some of our meals.  The place we ended up finding turned out to FAR exceed these expectations. Our gorgeous little condo was just across the street from a quiet beautiful beach with the most amazing sunsets.  The owner had everything covered down to the beach towels, beach chairs, games, movies, and any pot/pan/kitchen appliance you could need.  Perhaps what I loved most though was the name of her condo:

Just Be

I think that’s what this vacation (or any vacation) is all about… Being reminded of what it means to simply be.  As cliche as it the phrase can become, there is something to the fact that we are called human beings not human doings.  Yet, our lives, my life, can easily become so focused on all the things that need to be done.  I’m so thankful this past week was a reminder of what it means to simply BE.

And I’m hoping and praying I can bring some of that “just be” feel back to my everyday life. My Bible reading this morning was a perfect fit:

As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you. Now remain in my love. (John 15:9)

Remain in my love. That phrase just caught me and was exactly what my soul needed as I prepare to head back to a busy week at work.  You can’t “remain” somewhere unless you’re already there.  And before I did anything today, before I do anything this week at work, before I got into the tasks and to-dos, I am in His love.  And that’s a beautiful place to “just be.”

Jesus, help us to just simply be in Your love today… resting in that which alone can bring us peace and joy and life! Teach us to remain our love. Teach us to Just Be.
